Meatier than a TeachMeet

Bradford TeachMeet 2017

Every day this May, we’re bringing you another great little reason to head to #exabytes17. While the 7th of July might seem quite a way off, we think now’s the best time to start thinking about arranging cover to be released on the day itself.

On July 6th, the day before #exabytes17, exa.foundation will be hosting a Teachmeet in Bradford for all interested teachers! While the TeachMeet and #exabytes are separate events, there’s a lot of crossover between the two, with many of the teachers at the TeachMeet also appearing at the conference the day after.

The TeachMeet starts off at 6PM with refreshment and registration, with everything kicking off at 6:30 with the SpeedMeet. This speed dating-inspired event sees 3 or 4 attendees talk between themselves for around 3 minutes at a time, sharing teaching resources and teaching strategies.

After this, there’ll be a series of short 5 minute presentations from attending teachers, touching on a wide range of different subjects and areas. There’s two separate blocks of presentations, starting off with 5 quick pieces and a break, then another 8 in the evening. Once the presentations are over, there’s an optional TeachEat, as visitors head out to Centenary Square.

Never been to a TeachMeet before? It’s a casual, fun event for teachers, where they can share ideas, experiences and tools that they’ve used in the classroom. It’s a truly fantastic way to spend an evening if you’re free (or heading to #exabytes17 the day after), and one of the best ways around to network with local teachers.

You don’t have to bring anything unless you fancy presenting at the meet - we’d appreciate anyone interested in submitting a proposal to do so through our EventBrite page, where you’ll also be able to book your free ticket for the meet. Stay tuned for more!
